Update on Netvouz and Social Bookmarking

I previously posted a review of social bookmarking services. Henrik Sjostrand, the Netvouz lead developer was kind enough to read the post and email me his ideas. If there's anything better than a great web 2.0 service, its one which has that and also listens to the feedback from its users. Most web 2.0 companies have a different outlook to business. Having seen the power of blogs as a communication tool, they greatly value feedback and even the top people in the company make an effort to get closer to the users directly.
Henrik pointed out that I had left out two other features of Netvouz, which I have now included in the recent edit of that last post. That means Netvouz now meets all the features I outlined except spaces in tag names and auto synchronization which they are looking to implement shortly.
The Netvouz firefox plugin is still being tested and not yet released, but I got a chance to try it out :
The hotpicks shown here are bookmarks that are always displayed on the top of your bookmarks page. This is useful to show the most used bookmarks, especially if you use Netvouz as your start page.

The add bookmark option is very much like the current bookmarklet and presents the following screens.

Below are the advanced options for adding a bookmark.

Another recently implemented feature is the broken links checker. Netvouz also does not distinguish between upper and lower case in tag names, so linux, LINUX and LiNuX are all the same. Thus, less confusion is present in applying tags. There is also a plan to introduce stemming, similar to the Port Stemmer module which this site uses. This will allow similar words in the vocabulary to be linked to the same set of bookmarks.
Example: Searching for blog will return bookmarks tagged with blogging, blogs etc. There is already a feature to return related tags to a search, so tags like weblogs and blogosphere will also be suggested.
In conclusion, this reinforces my previous post where I rated Netvouz to be the best among the various social bookmarkers. If you have been discouraged from the idea of social bookmarking because of its various issues, I'd advise you to give Netvouz a chance. You might be pleasantly surprised.
